How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers

The Guardian calls this book, “A beautifully told, beautifully painted story,” and I agree.  It was given to Pip as a gift and it is simply lovely.  It begins, “Once there was a boy and the boy loved stars very much.”  He decides that he wants to catch a star of his very own, so he devises a plan.  I find the book enchanting.

I Love You As Much

by Laura Krauss Melmed

(I realize that I’m recommending a lot of books with ‘love’ in the title…go figure.)  This is a gorgeous book for new moms and I find that Pip still loves to hear it read to her at bedtime.  Gorgeous illustrations.

I Love You the Purplest

by Barbara M. Joosse, Illustrated by Mary Whyte

Okay, this is THE BEST book about siblings EVER!!!  It’s a moving book about two boys who wonder who their mother loves best.  It is written in the spirit of true unconditional parental love and it speaks to the unique qualities that make every child an individual.  Even if the illustrations were awful, I would still recommend this book, but luckily they’re stunning.  I guarantee you will love this book.
